Zoo Knoxville Names New CEO

Zoo Knoxville is excited to announce Bill Street has been chosen as the Zoo’s next President and Chief Executive Officer following a comprehensive national search.

Street has more than 30 years’ experience in the non-profit and for-profit sectors. Most recently, Street served as the Senior Vice President at the Indianapolis Zoo, where his role included strategic leadership of the organization and management of conservation initiatives, animal welfare, government affairs and youth education initiatives. Street succeeds Lisa New, who served as President and CEO from 2013 through 2023.

“Zoo Knoxville has an international reputation as a leader in conservation and animal care, in addition to being recognized for excellence in education and providing dynamic experiences,” said incoming President and CEO Bill Street.

“The Zoo has undergone a transformation over the last decade, and I am joining an incredibly talented staff lead by a visionary Board of Directors. I am excited to keep leading Zoo Knoxville on a bold and impactful trajectory that inspires our visitors to save wildlife and wild places. Being entrusted with this crown jewel of the community is a great privilege and responsibility that I look forward to honoring.”
