Merit Construction Adds New Project Manager and Assistant to Team

Edward Hitch Gilchrist, Jr., has joined Merit Construction, Inc., a general contractor /construction management firm in Knoxville, as a Project Manager. Gilchrist comes to Merit from Choate Construction in Savannah, Georgia, where he worked as a Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager from 2015 until recently when he relocated to Knoxville. He earned his Bachelor of Building Science at Auburn University in 2010.

Also joining Merit as a Project Administrative Assistant is Tarah Durliat of Knoxville. Tarah earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with Honors at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee in 2008. She also has an Associates Degree of Science from Pellissippi State earned in 2006. Tarah last worked as an Operations Assistant at Redline Contract Services, under the umbrella of the Empire Corporation of Tennessee, Inc.

Shannon Sapp, President of Merit Construction noted, “We are extremely fortunate to have people with Hitch and Tarah’s experience and education joining our company. Both will be able to contribute immediately to our team as we continue building projects in Knoxville, the east Tennessee region and throughout the Southeast.”
