 KUB Fiber Continues to Provide Free Internet to Income-Eligible Student Households

 Eligible families in Knox County can sign up for KUB’s ConnectED program 

Knoxville, TN – KUB Fiber’s rapid expansion is bringing the fastest internet available to more families across the region. As the fiber network grows, KUB ConnectED is now serving over 130 student households in Knox County with free KUB Fiber internet. 

“We are committed to ensuring that students have the tools they need to succeed, both in the classroom and beyond,” KUB President and CEO Gabriel J. Bolas II said. “This program is crucial in addressing the need for broadband access in underserved and underrepresented communities. We are proud to be the only local internet provider offering free, one gigabit internet service to student households in our area.” 

With funding from the City of Knoxville and Knox County, ConnectED participants receive $80 monthly for free KUB Fiber one Gigabit symmetrical internet service, managed router services including an in-home Wi-Fi router, and enhanced services. 

KUB Fiber is currently available in portions of Lonsdale, Bearden, North Knoxville, West Hills, Sequoyah Hills, Fountain City, Parkridge, Halls, Rocky Hill, Fourth & Gill, House Mountain, Ball Camp, Mechanicsville, South Knoxville, and Arlington in Knox County. In 2025, KUB Fiber will be available in portions of Strawberry Plains, Holston Hills, and parts of North Knox County.
