Knoxville’s Largest Real Estate Companies Unite to Clarify New Homebuyer Rules
Realty Executives, Wallace Real Estate, and Keller Williams came together to release a unified video explaining the importance of new rules when working with a real estate agent. Updated national standards now require buyers to sign a written agreement before touring properties with an agent. The rule applies to all licensed real estate agents in the United States, regardless of brokerage.
The companies collaborated after noting widespread confusion among buyers and inconsistent information online. The video explains that the written agreements can be simple one-time showing agreements used for individual appointments. The agreements are designed to provide clarity, outline expectations and help buyers understand the purpose of each showing. They do not automatically create a financial obligation for the buyer.
“Buyers deserve accurate information, especially when rules affect the earliest steps in the home search,” one participating company leader said. “A clear explanation helps people understand what they are signing and why it is required.”
Another company representative noted the importance of consistency across the industry. “This is not a company preference. It is a national standard,” the representative said. “When every buyer receives the same clear process, it reduces confusion and builds trust in the transaction.”
A third leader highlighted the consumer benefit. “These agreements are simple and often used for a single showing. They help buyers know exactly what the appointment is for,” the leader said. “This change strengthens transparency at a time when buyers are asking more questions than ever.”
These three companies are the largest in East Tennessee, and represent the most market share combined. The unified video produced emphasizes that showing a home without a written agreement is not compliant with national standards. Their collaboration reflects a shared commitment to transparency, professionalism and consumer education in the Knoxville market. By working together, the firms aim to ensure that buyers receive clear information and a consistent experience, regardless of which company they choose to work with.
