Barge Selects Carl Barker as a Jack L. Woods Excellence in Service Award Winner

The Jack L. Wood Excellence in Service Award recognizes Barge employees for a longstanding history of consistently superior service, dedication, and loyalty. Through this award, the firm honors employees who exemplify a passion and drive to elevate their communities, their team, and themselves for the betterment of those around them. Carl Barker, Structural Group Leader, was selected as the 2021 recipient of this award.

Barker, PE, LEED AP, joined Barge in 1995 and works in our Knoxville, Tennessee office. He has served as lead structural engineer on numerous complex projects in the heavy industrial and manufacturing industries. He has worked on a wide range of projects – from wooden fishing piers to rocket test stands – and displays the same level of commitment to quality design, attention to detail, and consideration for our clients’ needs for each, no matter the size or scope.

Vice President and recently elected Board Member Steve Edwards nominated Carl, sharing, “Carl is well known by those who have worked with him as a team member who plans his work, communicates, coordinates with others, seeks to identify and mitigate risks, and follows through on his commitments. He provides our clients with excellent service and serves as an invaluable resource to his co-workers. We routinely call upon him to weigh in on complicated design issues or to provide guidance, and he is always willing to share his knowledge to help others move forward.”
