Tennova Healthcare Recognized for Safety and Quality by the Leapfrog Group
Grade ‘A’ is a Testament of Team Dedication to High-Quality Patient Care
Tennova Healthcare’s Turkey Creek Medical Center and North Knoxville Medical Center announced that they were awarded the Leapfrog Group’s highest grade, an “A,” in the spring 2022 hospital safety grade scoring period. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety, quality and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country. Safety grades demonstrate how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, injuries, errors and infections and is the gold standard measure of patient safety.
Tennova Healthcare’s Turkey Creek Medical Center and North Knoxville Medical Center are 2 of only 29 in the state of Tennessee, to receive an “A” for their commitment to meeting the highest patient safety standards in the country. Only 33% of nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals have received an “A” grade for the Spring 2022 period, making Tennova Healthcare stand out in patient commitment.
“It takes consistent, steadfast dedication to our patients to achieve the highest standards of patient safety. An “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade recognizes Tennova Turkey Creek and Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center facilities for this commitment,” says Tony Benton, chief executive officer, Tennova Healthcare – East Market. “We know how critical it is for employers, their employees as well as community members to have access to safe, high-quality care. Receiving an “A” from the Leapfrog Group validates the efforts that we have put into providing that care. Every member of the hospital staff deserves thanks and congratulations for our continued diligence.”
Tennova Healthcare is proud to share that in addition to accomplishing this designation for both Knoxville facilities, Tennova Healthcare – Newport has also successfully achieved an “A” from the Leapfrog Group. This tremendous effort demonstrates Tennova’s dedication to successful patient outcomes across the region.
Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
