Twenty-nine years ago\, Willy and Cody moved to Austin\, TX\, added drummer Jay Nazz to their core\, and formed a band that would change Texas’s musical history. Over nearly three decades\, the GRAMMY award-winning group has become a staple in the Americana scene\, earning a GRAMMY Award\, Outlaw Group of the Year at the 2024 Ameripolitan Awards and more recently\, Entertainer of the Year in the 2025 Texas Music Chart Awards. In 2024\, their annual festival The Braun Brothers Reunion celebrated its 40th anniversary- marking it as the longest running Americana music festival in Idaho. Recently\, BBR announced its lineup for 2025 featuring iconic artists like The Wilder Blue\, American Aquarium\, Reckless Kelly\, Micky & The Motorcars & more. The three-day event helps to raise significant funds for their hometown in Challis\, Idaho. It helps people find hope\, healing\, and restoration. \nBeauty from Ashes is our first Meraki Project. Meraki [may-rah-kee] is a Greek word that means “to do something with soul\, creativity\, or love; to put something of yourself in your work”. The Meraki Projects will be a series of expressive artistic experiences that will promote hope\, healing\, and restoration. Each project will have a specific focus with the goal of bringing the experiences to cities around the world. \nWe chose a project centered around suicide survival and healing because we are living in a time of mental health crisis\, and we want to be a conduit for hope\, healing\, and restoration – starting in Knoxville\, TN\, and shining throughout cities across the world. \n– More than 800\,000 people die due to suicide each year\n– A person dies by suicide every 11 minutes in the U.S.\n– Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in the U.S. for ages 10-14 and 25-34\n– Youth and young adults ages 10-24 account for 15% of all suicides\n– Males account for 77.97% of all U.S. suicides\n– Veterans are at a 57% higher risk of suicide than their non-Veteran peers \nThese heartbreaking statistics are contrasted by statistics that shine a light of hope: \n– More than 90% of people who survive a suicide attempt do not go on to die by suicide. This demonstrates that intervention\, support\, and time can significantly alter a person’s trajectory.\n– Nearly 75% of U.S. adults do not make additional suicide attempts. National\, lifelong studies have shown that recovery involves not just the absence of future attempts\, but also improvements in key areas of life\, such as being married\, employed\, and having strong social connections.\n– Suicide attempt survivors often find profound meaning in helping others by using their own lived experience to educate communities and emphasize that recovery is possible.\n– Suicide loss survivors also find healing in transforming their pain into purpose by sharing their story\, finding others who understand their grief\, and helping others. \nBeauty from Ashes is a concert that focuses on the hope that exists in the courageous choice of survival by sharing the stories of suicide survivors. \nJoin us for an artistic evening where stories of suicide survival are told through music\, dance\, and art.

The event base will be at Caswell Park\, located at 616 Jessamine Street\, Knoxville\, TN 37917. \nWe will be removing litter from East Knoxville roads\, creeks\, and parks. Participants of any age are welcome! We look forward to seeing those who live\, work\, or play in East Knoxville – as well as anyone who wants to lend a helping hand. Thank you for keeping Knoxville beautiful! \nThere are three volunteer options: two to sign up as an individual picking up litter and one to sign up as a group. Please only fill out the section that applies to you. \nGroups: Participating groups will send a leader to Caswell Park to pick up supplies and then meet their group at their designated\, or assigned neighborhood to pick up litter. Please only sign up as a group if you are wishing to lead your group in your own cleanup area. \nIndividuals \nCaswell Park & surrounding roads \nFirst Creek at Caswell Park \nKeep Knoxville Beautiful will provide the following equipment: \nLitter Pickers \nGloves \nSafety Vests \nTrash Bags \nWe highly recommend wearing long pants\, and all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes for the event.
