TVA Preparing for IRP

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is in the process of identifying opportunities to speak with the general public on the status of the Integrated Resource Plan, known as TVA's Environmental and Energy Future, which will outline TVA's electricity needs over the next 20 years. The plan will outline various sources for producing electricity, their costs and reliability and their potential impacts on the environment. It will also review ways to implement more energy efficiency and consider types of viable renewable generation that are availale.

TVA will conduct meetings beginning this fall to capture public input on TVA's draft IRP document, which will describe the methoology and planning process for assessing power source options that will ensure a reliable supply of electricity for the future with minimal environmental impacts. A schedule of Integrated Resource Plan public meetings as well as the draft IRP document will be available on the IRP website in the coming months.

Prior to the public meetings this fall, TVA wants to begin educating the public on the IRP in hopes of increased participation in the public meetings as well as to encourage public understanding of the project. For more information or to schedule a speaker for your event, please contact Beth Yetter at 423/751-6186.

TVA completed a similar 20‐year Integrated Resource Plan in 1995, entitled Energy Vision 2020.
