Community members from all areas of Knox County are invited to attend this dropout prevention summit that will include a breakout session allowing each Knox County high school community time to discuss what dropout issues most affect their areas and what remedies can be implemented. Breakouts will be co-facilitated by Knox County Schools administrators and community members.

Following a state-wide dropout prevention summit held this past March in Nashville, community members, educators, and Knox County students have been planning a local summit to support higher graduation rates in Knox County. The Moving Forward Graduation Summit will be open to all Knox County residents and stakeholders.

"This is a community led effort to learn more about why students are dropping out of area high schools," says Jennifer Evans, Knoxville Chamber director of workforce development and education. "We need to find out what is currently being done to prevent students from dropping out and what the community can do to increase high school graduation rates."

The summit is being made possible by grants from Volunteer Tennessee and State Farm Insurance. NAI Knoxville, a Chamber Premier Partner and a strong advocate for education and workforce development, is also actively engaged in the planning of the summit by providing graphic design support and other resources. To register, log onto www.knoxvillechamber.com/graduationsummit or call 865-246-2658 by the November 1 deadline. There is no charge for registrants to attend the event and lunch will be provided.
