The Knoxville Chamber is hosting three Legislative Briefings as the 109th General Assembly meets. The 8 a.m. events are sponsored by AT&T.
Rep. Jimmy Matlock and Rep. Eddie Smith, House Transportation Committee chairman and member, respectively, gave Chamber members an update on Feb. 26. They were joined by Steve Borden, regional director of TDOT, and Jeff Welch, director of the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization.
Two more briefings are scheduled:
• Education will be the topic of the March 11 briefing, with panelists Reps. Bill Dunn, Harry Brooks and Roger Kane.
• Sens. Becky Duncan Massey and Richard Briggs, along with Rep. Jason Zachary, will recap and give their forecasts for legislation on April 1, as the Legislature begins to wind down.
