Advocacy

Advocacy is one of the most important reasons to become a member of the Knoxville Chamber. The combining of business resources and voices can have a tremendous impact on government policies and protect business interests.

It is also important that business men and women regularly communicate with elected officials. Only through that give-and-take can business protect its interests and continue the region's economic growth.

With that in mind, the Chamber often brings business and elected officials together. The opportunities include hosting legislative briefings, candidate meet-and-greets, debates, a Governor's Luncheon and the Day-on-the-Hill.

Legislative Agendas
The Knoxville Chamber's Government Relations and Public Policy Committee identifies a slate of issues each year. These select issues are designated as those that the Chamber is going to actively ask State Legislators to address. The Committee then contacts legislators and directs the Chamber's lobbyist to work on those issues. The Knoxville Chamber also joins with other chambers in the metropolitan area to develop a regional legislative agenda. The issues identified by the group of chambers are deemed important to the economic health of the region.
