Know My Knoxville

Favorite Knoxville location & pastime? I love the mountains of East TN. Enjoy horseback riding, fly fishing, and boating.

Favorite thing about Knoxville? We are the friendliest people in the country!

What part of town do you live in? East Knoxville.

Why did you choose that part of town? I have always loved East Knoxville. It is where my grandfather and father lived.

What makes it special? To see East Knoxville be a part of redevelopment makes me proud. I love the Knoxville Zoo, Beck Cultural Center, and Chilhowee Park. The first airplane to come to Knoxville landed in East Knoxville at what was then "Speedway Circle,” an old horse track owned by black millionaire Cal Johnson.

How long have you lived in Knoxville? I was born here and moved to Oak Ridge, and came back to Knoxville in 1995.

Where else have you lived? Bend, Oreg.
