Higher Education
In addition to the main campus of The University of Tennessee, the region is home to eight four-year liberal arts colleges, four two-year and community colleges, four technical institutions and six technology training centers.
The University of Tennessee

New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Knoxville
New Horizons is a locally owned franchise and part of the world's largest independent information and computer training company. It offers more courses and more times and locations than any other computer training company.
South College
South College offers baccalaureate degree programs in nursing, elementary education, business administration and legal studies, as well as a number of associate degree programs.
Tennessee Wesleyan
Tennessee Wesleyan is a private liberal arts college with a wide range of programs at the undergraduate level.

Hiwassee College
Hiwassee College, the oldest private two-year institution in the State of Tennessee, offers a variety of university parallel and career/vocational programs.
Pellissippi State Technical Community College
With 4 campuses in the region, Pellissippi State Technical Community College, one of the most modern technical colleges in the country, specializes in networking and supercomputing.
Roane State Community College
With 6 campuses in the region, Roane State Community College offers two years of instruction in the humanities, nursing, mathematics, natural sciences and social sciences as well as transfer and career preparation study options.
Walters State Community College
