Great Turnout for Extreme Pep Rally
East Tennesseans just about filled the bottom level of the Tennessee Theatre Wednesday afternoon for a pep rally welcoming in some of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew.
Emceed by WATE’s Lori Tucker and Bo Williams, University of Tennessee cheerleaders and dance team members kicked off the night. (To see more of the sights and sounds, check out the video here: Extreme Pep Rally).
At this point, organizer Kim Henry says the volunteer effort has been overwhelming. More than 3,000 people have signed up to be a part of building a new home for a deserving Knoxville family. At this point, about 1500 of those folks are on a waiting list.
Christi Branscom, a Knoxville Chamber board member and owner of Grace Construction, says they do still need skilled construction man-power.Mainly, Branscom said they could use the help of several dozens skilled framers for homes. Producers from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition also addressed the crowd and indicated several other needs they have that will benefit the family. Extreme Makeover’s Ty Pennington will knock on the Knoxville family’s door on January 10th, kicking off construction. The show is expected to air on WATE-TV, Channel 6 in Knoxville.
