Most businesses are so focused on the day‐to‐day tasks of operating a company that there is little time to evaluate the structure, systems, market, and processes of the organization. That's where Member MD comes in.
The Knoxville Chamber has developed this analysis tool to help members examine their businesses and identify areas that can be strengthened. The series of questions allow professionals to see the common areas of concern in all companies. The Chamber has developed the analysis focusing on five areas of importance to all businesses - Financially and Operationally Sound, Technically Aware,Market and Relationship Savvy, Personally and Professionally Prepared and Legislatively and Politically Informed.
Much like a health risk assessment, Member MD highlights issues that can lead to longer business life. A personal health risk assessment includes a series of questions that identify the potential of adverse health conditions or disease. A health risk assessment may lead to recommendations about exercise, diet, or behavior changes. Implementing a health risk assessment's recommendations decreases the probability of health problems, but there is no guarantee of a long and disease‐free life.
In the same manner, Member MD identifies risk factors and recommends a course of action based on things that healthy and successful businesses have done in the past. But, following those recommendations is not a guarantee of success. Just like unforeseen circumstances can cause heart disease, business complications can come from unexpected issues. However, the recommendations of the business analysis can place a business in a stronger posture to succeed.

Following completion of the analysis, member businesses will be presented with a "prescription," which includes a course of action, remedies, and a roadmap to address areas of concern. The recommendations, known as Member Rx, will include suggested classes, readings, podcasts, and videos. Member Rx will also identify experts and other member businesses or non-profits that can provide assistance.
In the completion of the business the Knoxville Chamber and its employees may develop, use, or maintain confidential member business information. This information, from any source and in any form, including, but not limited to, paper record, or oral communication, is strictly confidential. Access to confidential information is permitted only with the expressed consent of the company and limited to the minimum amount of confidential information necessary to complete the analysis and make and monitor the subsequent recommendations. Member MD and Member Rx are not to encompass all resources available to businesses and businesspeople. Likewise they do not not replace a business's or a business owner's responsibility for making sound decisions. All decisions and actions made on behalf of the business are the complete and total responsibility of the business. Success or failure is the sole responsibility of the business.
