FIRST Robotics Competition

FIRST Robotics Smoky Mountain Regional

FIRST Robotics is a global technology and engineering competition for high school students. This year’s Smoky Mountain Regional FIRST Robotics competition was a huge success! Over 30 teams from Tennessee participated, compared to only 3 in 2009. Four teams from our area qualified for the National Competition in St. Louis including Roane County High School, Oak Ridge High School, Halls High School, and Hardin Valley High School. Congratulations to those teams!

The Chamber has played a key role in bringing a regional competition to Knoxville. The competition emphasizes science, innovation, and design, and inspires students to think about science and technology.

Dozens of teams with hundreds of technology-minded students poured into East Tennessee for the competition.

To ensure the event runs smoothly, the competition is always looking for sponsors and volunteers.  Several Chamber member businesses like the Tennessee Valley Authority and Oak Ridge National Lab helped make 2013’s event a success.
